Happy Friday everyone! It's hard to believe another week has come and gone, isn't it? What does everyone have planned for this beautiful weekend? The weather is supposed to be gorgeous! My hubby and I have a wedding to attend at our local golf course. We are so excited to see some old friends and celebrate with this wonderful couple. We also may take our kids to a beach over the weekend, or just hang out pool side in our backyard, we'll see where the wind takes us :)
OK, I will cut right to the chase because I know all of you are anxious to hear what the big news is for Krista Dawn Photography :) Well if you have had a studio session with me in the past, you may have heard me say that this is just a temporary location. It was previously my Dad's Autobody and paint shop before he gave up the trade, so you can imagine what kind of mess it was before we cleaned it up and transformed it into what it is today. While it has served me very well and has provided me a classroom to experiment with studio photography, it's drafty which makes it hard to heat in the winter and it's inconvenient for me to travel as much as I would like to with 2 small children in order to create my sets and experiment. So it is time to move on and settle in somewhere a little more permanent so that I can better serve my clients.
Up until several days ago, my hubby and I had been tossing around numerous ideas as to where and how we would do this. We knew we wanted it to be on our property here in Avonport and we have a couple of out buildings that we debated using as the main structure. One of them is probably in all seriousness a little too small and is a home to all of hubby's "toys" (4 wheeler, lawn tractor, etc) and the other is quite a quite a bit larger garage style building mainly used for projects, fixing of his toys and a social spot, it also has a loft for storage. Using one of these buildings would require a lot of work and money invested into them in order to get them to where they need to be so I could use them for a studio and likely wouldn't be able to happen in the very near future (plus hubby would have to find a new spot for all of his things). So then we played around with the idea of just starting from scratch and building a whole new building specifically for it's intended purpose. This too would require a large investment of both money and time.
Finally after a lot of back and forth, we came to the conclusion that we would convert the downstairs of our home into a small studio space for the time being. We hardly ever use the main area of our bottom level so it only makes sense to start putting it to good use. I am so excited about this! While this may not be the forever home of Krista Dawn Photography, it will certainly be a step in the right direction. The thought of being able to practice on any given evening has me ecstatic! Over the weekend we lost our power due to Hurricane Arthur so I was unable to turn my computers on to edit, so to be productive, I started clearing out the clutter and getting the space organized so that we can begin painting as soon as possible. I only have 1 more studio session in my schedule between now and September which happens to be next week, so after that we will begin the big move and should be up and running for my September sessions. So stay tuned :)
Have a safe and wonderful weekend everyone!
Until next time!
Much Love <3
